.. As the current rain induced flooding begins to recede, the weather forecast brings news of rapidly 
warming temperatures for the next 10 days or so... Temperatures may climb to the mid 70's, (or above,) in a minor heat wave. That's just a mite too warm for early June.
.. The forecast also predicts additional rain in the form of our typical afternoon thundershowers, and early morning drizzle... The late Winter and early Spring snows brought our snow water equivalent up to near normal for the Madison River Drainage Basin. This snow pack will now begin to rush down slope with the warm temperatures and warm rains.
.. There will be some blue sky days, some post-card clouds, some breezes, and continued marginal catching conditions for the next week or 10 days. It will look pretty . . . BUT!
.. Arm yourselves with lots of soft hackles, nymphs, and streamers. Plan to prowl the banks and pray for the opportunity to be lucky enough to dance with a fish... This is the time of year when fishing is post-card-perfect and catching is pure gravy.
.. In most of Yellowstone National Park the Spring green-up is slow in coming this year.
.. In the lower elevations, however, the colors are definitely beginning to point to summer. The elk are calving, the bison are about done, the ducks and geese have seen a few clutches, and the visitors are increasing.
.. As the water clears and the fish begin looking up there will be some excellent opportunities for dances with fishes. Water will clear first in river segments immediately below constrictions in the flow. Watch these areas for increased PMD activity and the first of the Caddis clouds. It's not more than a blink away.-------
.. Just a note to mention a blog in the original sense: FISH HUNTER CHRONICLES... Just some notes of fun on the waters nearby. Refreshing in this day when nearly every fishing blog is selling something. Has some nice photography too! We hope the posts resume as the waters warm down Jackson way.
