    Caddis - - - Where?

    IS THE FIREHOLE
    A CADDIS RIVER ?
    Sure Is This Year
    from miller to musty-------
.. Almost all the hype about the Firehole River is about the fine and wonderful mayfly action. These sentiments are not without merit.
.. However; this year has seen some spectacular caddis action. Don't ignore it.
.. On the few bright and warm days we've had so far - BINGO, - caddis erupt. And they are doing it in phenomenal numbers. They seem to arrive earlier than remembrance has it, and they are lasting until dark.
.. The trout understand the value of a belly full of these bugs and are just nutty about the fuzzy-winged flies.
.. Remember that the caddis does a frantic breast stroke when it reaches the surface, (just a bit of natural history.) This dash for life makes fishing the critters easy. A perfectly dead drift may defeat your efforts. But, also remember, that they are not a ski boat either.
.. Use all of your favorite floaters and sinkers. The fish will like it. Flies slightly larger than those on the water will work. Right sized under water is perfect.
.. Double up your rig for guaranteed dances with the finny denizens of the Firehole River.
