FINALLY SOME WINTER WEATHER
-------
.. It's nicely early for this time of year. We're anticipating a dump of dry powder followed by some chilly temperatures in the next few days.
.. With our high of 11° F anticipated for next Wednesday, and lows down to -30° F in mid week we finally have some genuine Winter weather to look forward to. Is La Niña at work?
.. Should the predicted La Niña persist for the Winter we can anticipate a good snow pack and cool weather lasting into the Spring.
.. We hope that it's going to be that way. West Yellowstone and Yellowstone National Park lie in a wind, (weather,)  shadow. Weather fronts pile up on the west side off the Continental Divide.
.. If they have enough poop to crest the divide they dump considerable amounts of their load, (rain, snow, etc.) at the corner of Madison and Electric streets in our village.
WOULD THAT IT WILL BE
.. The predicted prevailing Winter weather pattern puts us right at the intersection of anticipated "cold," "snowy," and "wet" for the season. We would like to see the Jet Stream predicted for about 150 miles further north - sigh.
.. This bodes well for our snow pack and a good high water runoff period. The rivers need to be cleansed and rearranged. The last few years of gentility have stagnated the rivers and allowed fine sands and silts to clog the gravels.
.. Time will tell but we're hopeful that this comes to pass. For now the sledheads, ice fishers, cross country skiers, winter biathletes, and photographers are drooling in anticipation.
.. For us, today is a day to batten the hatches, stock the provisions, and get in one last day of 'warm' mid day fishin'.
