.. We're out of touch with our country.
.. It thunders home to us as we scan the social, political, cultural, educational, and recreational landscape.
.. Somewhere in the last 3/4 of a century we missed the boat. We somehow missed the transition from public service to power brokering in the political arena.

CONTEMPORARY CONVERSATION

.. We missed the change from reasoned discourse to arguments ad hominem in the private and public arena.
.. We've been blindsided by conversations that are impersonal and spit into the æther of the interwebs.
.. Somehow education has become about social class and upward mobility rather than learning. Education is now "FOR SOMETHING" as opposed to personal and societal enrichment.

HOMEGROWN TERRORIST

.. We, here in Montana, should know better. We have local citizens living in fenced compounds.
.. They are part of a nationwide network that is anti-government, anti-democracy, and strictly pro-Caucasian.
.. They are vocal about it and, in fact, pose a greater danger to the peaceful citizens of our state and the rest of the United States. Remember Oklahoma City?

.. ALTERNATIVE FACT: Restricting immigration and travel for citizens from five predominately Muslim countries will make American citizens safer than they are now.
.. ALTERNATIVE FACT: A wall at the border with Mexico will keep the thieves and rapists from getting to our citizens.
.. ALTERNATIVE FACT: A border tax on goods from Mexico will allow the Mexicans to pay for the wall and will not increase the price of avocados for Americans.
.. ALTERNATIVE FACT: There are not enough domestic terror  or anti-government groups in the U.S.A. to concern us about the safety of American citizens.

..We are working hard to adjust to the contemporary alternative reality that believes that loudest voice wins rational arguments, that tweets supplant considered government policy, that lies repeated often enough become truth, that the citizens of this country have abandoned the Constitution of The United States of America, and that fly fishing is about buying foreign produced goods to save the planet.
.. It's a tough sell to such a petrified brain as ours but, we're hoping to make this cultural transition in order to make us great again.
