A Bit Cooler - A Bit Wetter

EARLY SEASON
LOOKING GOOD

Mom & NOAA Helping Out
we're planning on it
-------
.. Despite the fact that it's possible to fish year-round in the neighborhood; & despite the fact that our anticipation anxiety grows through the month of May; & despite the fact that opening weekend in Yellowstone National Park vies for our attention with the Indy 500 - we're looking forward to it.
.. The weather is a constant topic of concern for fishers around opening day. The "RUNOFF QUESTION" is always in the discussion. This year, (cross your fingers,) high and muddy may wait for us to get in a few days before the blow-out.
.. The long range forecast, (the next couple of weeks,) lets us know that we're in for a cooler and moister bit of weather than usual. A little snow, a little rain, a little sleet, and some double-underwear temperatures look to be in the offing. That's all good.

.. The mayflies of the early season are fog lovers. They love lingering dew. They twinkle in the uniform gray days of late spring. We're counting on it. And, although we tend to fish more sub surface flies than floaters, we're loading up on some of the neighborhood's finest dry flies.
.. We'll keep you posted as 'THE DAY' approaches. Right now it's looking good, and stream flows are down as well, (all of which, of course, can change in a day.)

.. Breakfast time: blueberry waffles with butter and loganberry syrup, 1/2# link sausage, two eggs over medium, raw milk from the neighbor's cow, 1 quart of coffee, and some bananas sliced over pecan ice cream for starters.
