A Brief But Mixed Blessing

OVERNIGHT COOLING
It Came With Warm Showers
madison and firehole clearing
WALLPAPER: CLOUDS - SHOWERS - MADISON RIVER
-------
.. As our brief Spring slips into Summer, diurnal temperatures continue to climb and nocturnal temperatures are holding in the moderate range.
..Both the FIREHOLE RIVER and the MADISON RIVER are nearing daily median flows and are clearing rapidly. Good catching conditions obtain on the Firehole River. The Madison River is not far behind.
THE MADISON RECESSION
.. The boundary waters, (to coin a phrase,) around Baker's Hole are providing excellent catching for those in the know.
.. The usual suspects are at Barns Holes and receiving some gifts of a few hold-over runners and residents. Both are taking dark streamers that are drifted in a lazy fashion along the banks and near shore seams. Visibility along the boundary waters is up to about 5 feet and clearing.
.. Receding waters are leaving sands and silts along the rivers edges and the shoreline grasses are emerging to provide cover for the fry of the year. Of course the fry gobblers are enjoying the current recession.
.. Madison River fishers with the skills to strip fry imitations downstream near the banks are enjoying more than a modicum of success in the catching  department.
.. Firehole River fishers have been treated to sparse hatches of mayflies during the long intervals of afternoon overcast. Chance, serendipity, and pure happenstance can make or break the catch rate for the surface inclined fisher. The Spring catechism of "swing the softie" is proving, again, to be the way to go for those wising the best rate of catching.
.. The snow-pack is receding apace with the warming days and gentle rains. Should we receive a Pineapple Express the west side rivers could color again in response to the sudden melt.
.. We're watching the Mid Pacific High as well as the Great Basin High.
