A Moving Event

BIGGER - BETTER - BROADER
7 Months Until AM
new broadcast tower in progress
PART 15 LPFM, CONTINUOUSLY ON AIR  OVER 800 DAYS, (down for 12 minutes for the move)
-------
.. We're moving the broadcast studios of YELLOWSTONE FREE RADIO to palatial new studios. The location provides a better situation for the only Part 15 LPFM station in West Yellowstone, Montana.
.. The studio equipment has already been moved and now broadcasts a clear signal for about 100 feet during bright sun days. Night time coverage is variable up to 900 feet. This will be the situation for the rest of this year and into early 2014.
RADIO ENGAGES THE MIND & NOURISHES THE SOUL
.. We've expanded the catalog of available programming and are continuing to provide the neighbors with their favorite tunes and programs.
.. The current favorites include: The Grateful Dead in concert, Dragnet, Gunsmoke, The Shadow, The Lone Ranger, CBS Radio Mystery Theater, and Your Hit Parade.
.. Neighborhood buzz is already anticipating our annual week long broadcast of the original Halloween classic, WAR OF THE WORLDS  from the radio drama  series The Mercury Theatre on the Air.
.. It was originally performed as a Halloween episode of the series on October 30, 1938, and aired over the Columbia Broadcasting System radio network. Directed and narrated by actor and future filmmaker Orson Welles, the episode was an adaptation of H. G. Wells's novel The War of the Worlds (1898).
.. The current catalog of available programming can be found HERE. Feel free to submit requests or suggestions.
.. The neighbors are also anticipating our switch to Part 15 LPAM. This will provide clear signal coverage of our whole village even on the most sunny and sun-stormy of days. Clear signal range should approach 2 miles.
.. Plans are on the drawing board for a broadcast tower, ground plane antenna, and new transmitter. Our new location at the periphery of the village provides the ideal situation for a directional broadcast signal without sacrificing reception for nearby neighbors.
.. Current Windows operating system users can listen to some sample radio shows from the golden age of radio with a simple CLICK RIGHT HERE.
.. Our new programming software is cross-platform friendly and will provide internet shows for Mac OS X, Windows, Free BSD, Unix, Linux, and more - directly from the website. This software implementation will be coincident with the grand opening of the signal broadcast tower.
.. Once the new transmitter and tower are in place we will be able to provide streaming programming with neighborhood events, fishing news, and weather information. The tower will also provide a mount for our new internet camera that will broadcast live, (real time,) views of the town and, of course the weather.
We appreciate local radio that is responsive to the neighbors. One great local, (and international,) radio station is the BIG VALLEY RADIO in Whitefish, Montana. You can enjoy their program stream with a simple CLiCK.
.. So then, Tom, see you on the air.
