Two Weeks And Counting

BRIDGE CONSTRUCTION
Traffic Galore
goodbye gibbon
-------
.. Should you find yourself on the west side of Yellowstone National Park during the next two weeks: -->> remember that the Gibbon Canyon Road closes at 10:00 PM.
.. This means that you'll have to abandon the rivers in the northeast corner of the park about the time the fishing gets good: OR TAKE THE LONG WAY HOME.
.. The wise of mind and cagey of temperament will have already made reservation at Roosevelt, Canyon, Lake, or Gardiner.
.. This is the best choice for fishing Soda Butte, Slough, Blacktail, Gardner, Yellowstone, Lamar, and other rivers in the east side of the park.
.. The cabins at Lake Hotel and Lake Lodge are filling up for the Fall Fishing Frenzy. Make your reservations last week.
.. Repairs on the brown cabins at the lodge are progressing nicely. New sills and reinforcements have not reduced the availability too much.
.. Should you choose to stay at the Lake Area remember that the 7 miles of unmolested trout in the Hayden Valley need your thoughts. This viewscape is not just good for photography - it's good for the fish.
.. The Yellowstone River is still way above seasonal high flows, (by about 1,500 cfs = 2x +/-) and is clear, cold, and fishing surprisingly well. Please remember that it's going to be difficult to wade many of your favorite runs. It will be impossible in some areas.
.. The fisher has two choices in fly selection: 1] take 'em all and try to match the many Flavs, PMD's, Drakes, Stones & Caddis, about $1,000 in flies: or, 2] a handful of Adams in sizes 12 - 18, Deer Hair Caddis - same sizes, some Ants, Feather Dusters, and Yellow Woolly Worms.
.. The sage advice seems to be prowl the banks and watch for noses. There are many to be found and it's just a matter of hitting your mark.

P.S. Buster caught the Big Damn Band! Good on ya! We love 'em and they let us fish their pond.
